Strength Training for Handstands

Looking to get your first push-up or pull-up?

Want to prepare your body for the press, handstand push-up, or Mexican handstand?

Regardless of your current capabilities, we’ll get you stronger for handstands with our Strong program.  Comprehensively designed for both beginners and seasoned athletes, the Strong routines are designed to compliment our handstand routines.

Supplementary Conditioning for Handbalancers

Strength is one of our 3 key pillars of a comprehensive handbalancing practice.  It can mitigate injuries, enable longer training sessions, and ease the learning curve for difficult techniques.  With our Strong program we have created a supplementary strength training regiment that pairs with, without cannibalizing, your main handbalancing routine.

Supplement your handstand routine!

I quit the neighborhood muggles gym 3 days ago and started this program the same day… My triceps are so sore! I am very happy with it so far… I think it’s exactly what was looking for as a helpful supplement to hand balancing practice.

Two Levels of Programming

Coming to handstands from a yoga or dance background?  We’ve had many students come to us with amazing balance and coordination from other disciplines, but no history of strength training.  This is when strength becomes the low hanging fruit for fast progress towards handstands.

Our 6 Beginner Gains templates will introduce you to strength training methodology, framed around 3 classic bodyweight skills: your first push-up, pull-up, and hanging leg raise.   These feats are wonderful achievements in their own right.  But they will also provide you with the shoulder stability, wrist strength, and core control for better handstands.

Already have push-ups, pull-ups, and hanging leg raises? Looking for a strength routine that compliments, rather than detracts, from your handstand goals?

Then use our 5 Seasoned Strength routines to develop the specific strength you’ll need to press to handstand, perform a handstand push-up, or bend into a Mexican handstand. These routines are written to be secondary to your main skill-based training as a handbalancer, so the sessions are challenging but short to avoid overtraining and excessive fatigue.

Your Strength Coaches

Mikael Kristiansen and Emmet Louis are both international teachers of handbalancing and flexibility and have spent big chunks of their lives studying and understanding all aspects of these skills professionally both as performers and teachers. With Handstand Factory, they now want to demystify and simplify the process of learning handstands, and make it accessible to anyone wanting to learn to stand on their hands. FAQ

How does Strong incorporate into the other HSF Programs?

Strong can be trained on it’s own, or in conjunction with any of our other online programs.  The sessions are meant to be complimentary, and are best trained after your main handstand session, or on a subsequent day between handstand sessions.

How many exercises are new in Strong?

The vast majority of exercises in the Strong program are brand new to our library!  The others are the most beneficial strength drills from our higher level programs such as HSPU, Press, and Bend.

Why is Strong only available for a limited time?

While we are releasing Strong to meet the many requests for a conditioning program, it is tertiary to our main mission and do not wish for it to detract from our core, handbalancing-focused curriculum.
