HSF Weekend Seminar

A weekend of handstands, flexibility, and myth busting!

Taught by Emmet Louis and Mikael Kristiansen, join us for our first weekend seminar in Hamburg, Germany!

You’ll participate in structured training sessions that cover the strength, flexibility, and coordination you actually need to level up your handbalancing while busting common training myths and misconceptions that keep you from making progress.

Through in-person feedback on your capabilities and tendencies, we’ll identify what you need to progress. We’ll dispel those ineffective cookie-cutter cues and give you the whole picture on what’s needed to advance your handbalancing practice.

    We’ plan on covering beginner and intermediate handbalancing skills: freestanding handstands, straddle, tuck, press and more! But we’ll adjust the content to the abilities of our attendees.

  • FLEXIBILITY SESSIONS
    The splits wizard will give your arms a break in his session covering leg and shoulder flexibility for handstands.

Join us for our first weekend seminar in Germany!

Concepts and Skills Covered

The advantage of a small group seminar is we will adjust the material to meet the abilities of those who attend.  So regardless of where you are at, we can guarantee you’ll be challenged and learn something new!

With that said, we anticipate covering beginner to intermediate handstand skills like these below:

  • For those trying to get off the wall, we’ll cue you to get the most out of wall drills, teach controlled freestanding progressions, and cover how to bail safely.

  • For those who can freestanding handstand, receive in-person coaching on material from the Keep Pushing and Press curriculum to cover various entries, shapes, and transitions – as well as pressing to handstand!

  • Improve your flexibility for handstands under the tutelage of Emmet Louis, the splits wizard. In the flexibility session you’ll learn the methods to improve your active flexibility – a necessary component for alignment, a successful press, and most handstand shapes.

  • Adding layers of progression to the above sections, and getting a better understanding of what you personally need to work on

  • One big lecture at the end on programming, smart training with a final Q&A

Are You Ready For Our Weekend Seminar?

In order to get the most out of this event we recommend you meet these benchmarks below.  This is a beginner friendly event, but having some base strength and confidence will greatly benefit you since this is two full days of training!

Minimal Prerequisites
  • COMFORTABLE WITH A WALL HANDSTAND
    Have the confidence to kick up and consistently hold a vertically aligned wall handstand

  • SUFFICIENT WRIST, ELBOW, AND SHOULDER STRENGTH FOR 2 FULL DAYS OF CONTINUOUS TRAINING
    While we program the week to give your hands a break with flexibility training and excursions, expect at least 2.5 hour of handstands specifically each day on top of open sessions.

  • CONFIDENCE TO KICK-UP WITHOUT A WALL
    You don’t need to find balance, but being able to commit to kicking up without a wall will open up many new drills for you to do.

Location: School of Movement Hamburg

Address: Hohenesch 55, 22765 Hamburg, Germany

Getting there: Take S1 from Hamburg Airport all the way to Hamburg Altona Station. From there it’s a 300m walk to the gym.

Time: 10am-5pm Saturday the 13th and Sunday the 14th

What to bring: Unrestrictive athletic clothing, a water bottle, and a notebook.
